The Charity World Organization

We support creative people and effective institutions committed to building a more just, verdant, and peaceful world. The Foundation works to defend human rights, advance global conservation and security, make cities better places, and understand how technology is affecting children and society.

Through the support it provides, the Foundation fosters the development of knowledge, nurtures individual creativity, strengthens institutions, helps improve public policy, and provides information to the public, primarily through support for public interest media.

The Foundation

We make grants and loans to local NGOs around the world through its international program in the areas of human rights and international justice, peace and security, conservation and sustainable development girls secondary education in developing countries, migration and population and reproductive health providing grants of more than $215.2m in 2012.

The Foundation works in more than 50 countries and maintain offices in United States, India, Mexico, and Russia.

Mr Guntur Tampubolon

Mr Guntur Tampubolon (Indonesia) has been a member of the CWO Indonesia Board since 2015. He is currently the Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee. Guntur has a Law Degree from the University of Indonesia. He is a professional loss adjuster at Charles Taylor, an international loss/average adjusting firm that provides consulting and adjusting services to the shipping, energy/property and aviation industries. He has worked at Charles Taylor for thirty-four years, and during his professional career, he served as the Chairperson of the Adjuster’s Association for two periods. He is a member of Gereja Kristen Indonesia (part of the Presbyterian Church); he also serves as an elder and a board member of the church foundation. He is married to Wijarti Partomo, and they have two children.

Ms Margie Apa

Ms Margie Apa (New Zealand) has been a member of the CWO New Zealand Board since 2011 and is currently board Chair. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Management Studies, Labour Relations and a Postgraduate in Health Economics from the University of Auckland. She has experience in public sector innovation, health system design, Change Management and Performance Improvement. She is currently the Chief Executive Officer, Counties Manukau District Health Board (CM Health), a District Health Board in Southern Auckland. She is also Board Chair of Presbyterian Support Northern.

Dr Mike Williams

Dr Mike Williams (United States) has been a member of the CWO United States Board since 2018. He worked with World Vision US as CFO between the years 2003-2016. He is Vice-President Finance & Administration for Whitworth University, directing the finance, information technology, human resource and campus facility functions of the university. He joined Whitworth in July 2016. Mike is a former member of the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council (FASAC) and the Not-for-Profit Advisory Committee (NAC), a group of leaders from business, academia and government who provide counsel to the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB). He also served on the Standards Committee of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA). He is a Bingham Fellow, a graduate of Leadership Louisville and a past member of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. John Chundu

Mr John Chundu (Zambia) joined CWO Zambia in 2015 and is Chair of the Finance Committee. John holds an MBA, a Bachelor of Science degree in Financial Services, and currently works as the Head of Risk and Assurance at the National Pension Scheme Authority of Zambia. Prior to that, John worked for Standard Chartered Bank of Zambia. He serves on two other boards including, VisionFund Zambia. John is married to Mika and they have 3 adult children. The family attends Kabwata Baptist Church, where he serves as an elder.

Brigitte Bourgoin

Ms Brigitte Bourgoin (CWO France) joined the Board of CWO France in 2018. As a Roman Catholic, joining the oecumenical community that enjoys the French Board is an important experience for her. She serves on the Governance Committee and worked on CW’s France first “Don en Confiance” label obtention. She has also participated in peer reviews. Brigitte is a former international executive in the telecom and mobile industry (Orange group). She is very familiar with the dual citizenship model, its benefits, rationale and requirements for efficiency and brand reputation, in large multinational organizations. Her Board experience includes international listed companies and associations. She has experience in strategic marketing, brand management and transformation. She is married, has two children and three grandchildren and lives in Paris.

Ana Paula Fernandez del Castillo

Ms. Ana Paula Fernandez del Castillo (Mexico) has been on the CWO Mexico board since August 2015 and is currently serving as Chair. She has served on the Governance Committee as Chair and on the Audit Committee. Ana Paula holds an MBA and a Graduate Degree Architecture. Currently, she is undertaking doctoral studies in Innovation and Social Responsibility. Other specialties include: Social Impact Assessment and Public Consultation, Corporate Social Responsibility in the face of the Energy Reform and Human Resources Management Ana Paula is managing partner of her own firm on sustainable development. She is single and is Catholic.

Mr G. Andrew Fitch

Mr Drew Fitch (Canada) is a member of the CWO Canada Board where he serves as Chair and on the Executive Committee. He holds Bachelor of Science and Masters of Business Administration degrees and was a Chartered Professional Accountant. He had a 40-year career in finance and accounting, serving as the chief financial officer or chief executive officer of a number of Canadian and U.S. listed public companies. He was most recently COO of a private technology company and is now applying his career experience to volunteering endeavors.

Mr Baafour Otu-Boateng

Mr Baafour Otu-Boateng (Ghana) has been a member of the CWO Ghana Board since 2015 and was elected as Board Vice Chair in 2019. He is currently a Principal at Investisseurs & Partenaires (I&P), a family of impact funds that invests in businesses across Africa. At I&P, he serves on the boards of several portfolio companies including Rensource Holdings, VRS Africa, PEG Ghana and Eden Tree Ltd. Baafour previously worked at TechnoServe in Ghana, and at UBS Investment Bank in New York. He has a BA in Economics and Philosophy from Williams College, and he holds an MBA from the University of Oxford. He is married to Leonora, and they have two young sons.

The Foundation’s contributions have made a meaningful impact to local communities throughout Southern India, Mexico, and Russia and globally, and provide financial support to those in need through contributions in three primary areas: Humanitarian Efforts, Education and Healthcare.
